Bargaining Update

CUPE LOCAL 784 BARGAINING UPDATE
The proposals that were ratified by the members on October 1, 2024 were tabled with
the Employer on November 27, 2024.
The current bargaining landscape looks very different than it did last year. Many CUPE
locals are on strike right now or have recently served notice to strike in Edmonton and
throughout the province.
Your committee has met with the employer February 7 and February 14 to discuss the
proposals. We have agreed to a few housekeeping items and are currently having good
discussions about the proposals that matter to you, such as health and safety, layoff and
recall language and technological changes. We will be meeting again on March 7, 2025.
Regular updates will follow our bargaining sessions.
Show your support by wearing purple in the workplace every day.
Your committee will keep you informed. While at the bargaining table the committee
often can’t give you the details of what was discussed or exchanged. However, we want
you to know what is happening. If you have any questions, please contact your
bargaining committee.
